Wear a RED BAND FOR BURMA. Show your support!

RED BAND FOR BURMA are asking for your donations to aid Cyclone Nargis Disaster Relief Efforts.

On May 31st donations and profits from the sale of our RED BANDS, raised through this website and through our offline sales, were used to successfully deliver aid to areas affected by the devastation caused by Cyclone Nargis. These funds also allowed out charity partner, Burma Issues, to undertake a survey of the future needs of the people in these areas. Further details of the trip will be posted here as soon as we can...

The situation is still critical. Donations are needed to buy essential supplies for the effected communities and to support them in rebuilding their homes, schools, clinics and their livelihoods. All donations made via the RED BAND website go directly to Bangkok based organistaion Burma Issues (registered charity name 'The Peaceway Foundation').

Burma Issues can ensure supplies go directly to the effected communities. Donations will also help to fund longer term projects to help the people of Burma rebuild their villages and theirlivelihoods.

Further updates will follow. In the meantime, if you have any specific questions, please contact us on info@redbarndforburma.com.

Many thanks to all of you who have bought the Red Bands or Donated funds. It really has made a difference.

Protests inside Burma and out. Now what...

Recent protests and the governmental crackdown which followed have brought Burma into the public eye once more. This time the international community has sat up and taken notice. We want an end to the suffering of the Burmese people. We will not stand by as their human rights are violated and their country sinks further into poverty. Widespread public support will encourage the world's leaders to put pressure on the Burmese government. We must use this current momentum and keep Burma in the public eye.

Increase International Awareness...

The current governmental regime does not want the outside world to know the true story of what is happening within Burma. Sanctions against Burma have been called for, as well as tourism boycotts. This will put pressure on the regime, but it may also mean that Burma becomes further isolated from the out side world. We must not let the people of Burma be forgotten. Wear your RED BAND FOR BURMA. A strong display of public support will keep Burma in the headlines and in the consciousness of the world.

All net profits of wristbands sales will be donated to Burma Issues . The organisation, initially founded in 1990, acts as a private, non-profit organisation devoted to a peaceful resolution to Burma's struggle for human rights and democratic rule. Their valuable work spreads awareness of the current situation in Burma to the world.
